Content Area Literacy Instruction ( T L 5126 )
Methods for using literacy to help students learn in middle and secondary content areas are considered. These methods are designed to enable diverse learners who may differ in culture, gender, and language and those with learning disabilities, to become independent, strategic learners in inclusive classrooms. Access to a middle-school or high school classroom is required for this online course. University of Utah students must take this course on campus.

Prerequisite: Educational psychology course in learning, literacy, and development--including an overview of the history of literacy, current theory and practice, learning theories, and models of reading and writing. Access to a middle-school or high school classroom is required.
Class Note: Students taking the online version of this course must have: a computer and Internet connection; at least a basic understanding of Internet navigation; an email address and the ability send and receive email attachments; and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
