Fine Arts Teaching Methods ( MUSC 3715 )
For non-music majors, this course presents a holistic approach to music instruction appropriate for elementary-aged students. Students become conversant with effective methods and materials for teaching music. It emphasizes the use of music as a subject in its own right, and as a means of promoting cognitive development across subject areas. Access to the following is required: Internet; piano or keyboard; cassette recorder; CD player; elementary school class.
Prerequisite: Some assignments require teaching music lessons in an elementary school classroom.
Class Note: Educators considering this course for professional development/licensing purposes are strongly advised to consult with their state office of education licensing department prior to enrolling in this course.
