Pistol marksmanship, safety, skills, and management issues associated with shooting in state-operated facilities.

This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.

Online book and material fees may be added up until the first week of class. Students may opt out during the first two weeks of class. Class Sections For Pistol Marksmanship (PRTL 160)

Spring 2024 Section 3, Starting on: 02/29/2024

Students will learn about and practice shooting range protocols, gun safety, as well as the physical and mental principles of marksmanship. Students will also learn to utilize proper pistol nomenclature in their on-range exercises and competition communications as well as learn to handle .177 caliber air and .22 caliber rimfire pistols. Shooting sessions will begin the second week of class. Partial refund of special fees for those who utilize their own .22 caliber rimfire pistol. Fall 2024 Section 2, Starting on: 10/14/2024

Firearm safety takes center stage as students will learn to use .177 caliber air pistols and .22LR semi-automatic pistols to learn proper pistol nomenclature, gun safety, pistol operation, shooting range etiquette and marksmanship training drills. You will also learn the physical and mental principles of marksmanship and will be able to demonstrate proficiency by the end of this course. Shooting sessions begin the second week of class. No camping. Attendance at the first two lectures is mandatory.
