Resource management issues, skills, safety, consumerism, and environmental ethics associated with backpacking on federal lands. Overnight camping.

This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.

Online book and material fees may be added up until the first week of class. Students may opt out during the first two weeks of class. Fall 2024 Section 2, Starting on: 09/03/2024

THIS COURSE IS TAUGHT BY WOMEN AND CREATED FOR A FEMALE PERSPECTIVE. Knowing what and how to pack in your backpack can make all the difference for a successful overnight backpacking trip. We will also cover backcountry skills, safety, consumerism, environmental and natural resource topics associated with outdoor recreation while becoming familiar with Leave No Trace skills. Class meets on campus Sept 3rd only. Field experience Sept 13-15. Backpacking and overnight camping. Attendance at 1st class meeting is mandatory.
