Visit Ogden / Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
Don’t visit Ogden expecting a typical mountain town. This is the place that Al Capone said was too wild for his taste in the 1920’s. While bootlegging, prostitution and gambling have been replaced by skiing, climbing, kayaking and mountain biking, Ogden’s soul will always be a bit rowdy. Come hear the history of our notorious past and experience our revitalization. We will tour the Union Station Museum and many other sites and discover why people embrace all that was and is Ogden. Ride the FrontRunner for an added treat; check Frontrunner schedules for boarding time to meet our host at the fountain on the east side of Union Station. Senior (ages 65 plus) and discounted tickets for groups of 4 are available at the vending machines on the platform. In addition to the structured part of this event, Ogden offers many things to explore on your own. Union Station is home to the John M. Browning Firearms Museum, the Utah State Railroad Museum, and the Browning- Kimball Classic Car Museum. Museum admission is free for Osher members attending the tour. When hunger sets in, try the Union Grill or one of the many restaurants located on Historic 25th Street. Spend as much time as you like and return on your own schedule.
