Professional Education Alliances

As part of the community, Professional Education at the University of Utah strives to support professional organizations with their training, certification, and recertification needs. The following lists some of the many associations, organizations and societies that Professional Education supports to deliver unique educational programs based on specific needs.

UTAH NONPROFITS ASSOCIATION (UNA)
UNA exists to help nonprofit organizations succeed by providing their leaders with valuable information, resources, and training opportunities to help them manage their organizations.

Our mission is to strengthen and promote the success of Utah's nonprofit community.

Our vision is that we will be the catalyst in creating a strong, vibrant, mutually-supportive nonprofit community in Utah.

THE AMERICAN SOCiETY FOR PUBLIC ADMINSTRATION (ASPA)
ASPA is the leading public service organization that advances the art, science, teaching, and practice of public and non-profit administration. ASPA promotes the value of joining and elevating the public service profession and builds bridges among all who pursue public purposes. ASPA provides networking and professional development opportunities to those committed to public service values and achieves innovative solutions to the challenges of governance.

SALT LAKE VALLEY FIRE ALLIANCE
Salt Lake Fire Alliance - "Serving our communities through mutual cooperation."

The Salt Lake Fire Alliance is a consortium of fire departments including: Bluffdale City Fire Department, Midvale City Fire Department, Murray City Fire Department, Salt Lake City Fire Department, Sandy City Fire Department, South Jordan City Fire Department, South Salt Lake City Fire Department, Unified Fire Authority, West Jordan City Fire Department, and West Valley City Fire Department.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PURCHASING MANAGEMENT — UTAH
NAPM-Utah serves as a center of excellence in the development of world class purchasing and supply management professionals by providing education, certification, leadership and networking opportunities for its members. One-year certification classes are offered in a variety of disciplines: negotiations, logistics, supply management, and purchasing basics.

To assist NAPM-Utah in bringing its mission statement to fruition, it has developed a partnership with the University of Utah. The partnership includes C.P.M. A.P.P. Preparation classes to assist purchasing professionals throughout the state obtain their certification as a certified purchasing manager or an accredited purchasing practitioner.

THE SALT LAKE SOCIETY FOR HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (SHRM)
Simply stated, the Salt Lake SHRM logo reflects: Professionals together - working and contributing; a unified society reflecting diversity.

Attracts Salt Lake's top human resource practitioners into its membership. Encourages its members to strive for higher standards of performance in all phases of human resource management, and develop greater recognition of the importance of human resource management throughout the state of Utah.

All activities of the organization are directed towards developing an advanced understanding of human resource management through education, research, development, seminars, and similar sources of information and idea exchange among members.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE (PMI)
PMI Northern Utah Chapter serves as a resource and knowledge base for the advancement of project management and all project management professionals in Utah.

PMI is the international non-profit association for advancing the profession of project management. The organization administers the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification program, puts on international and regional seminars and provides geographical membership services through the chapters and industry level services through the Specific Interest Groups (SIGs). Additional information is available on the PMI National website.

PMI Northern Utah Chapter holds monthly meetings and workshops throughout the year designed to meet membership needs.

UTAH SOCIETY OF FUNDRAISERS
The Utah Society of Fund Raisers (USFR) is the professional organization committed to serving Utah's non-profit institutions through advocacy, training and education.

USFR is a comprehensive network of over 406 fund raising professionals who strive to advance humanitarian, social and creative causes throughout Utah.

UTAH WOMEN'S ALLIANCE FOR BUILDING COMMUNITY
The Utah Women's Alliance for Building Community acts as an umbrella organization, bringing together women representing diverse business and professional backgrounds and organizations within our community.

The Utah Women's Alliance for Building Community provides its members with an aligned and unified voice, to give them the power to strengthen the fabric of our community by creating a pattern for positive political, social and economic changes.

AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT (ASTD UTAH)
With members in over 100 countries and 15,000 organizations, ASTD is the leading association for workforce learning professionals. ASTD members receive exclusive around the clock access to valuable research tools, timely publications, networking opportunities, product and conference discounts, and much more.

THE MANUFACTURING EXTENSION PARTNERSHIP
The Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) is a non-profit organization chartered with raising the level of competitiveness, performance, and profitability of Utah's manufacturers.
