Professional Education Fire Service Leadership Academy Level I
The Level I Certificate is made up of two phases of instruction. To
gain the Fire Service Leadership Level I Certificate, participants
must complete both Phase One and Phase Two curricula as outlined below:
PHASE ONE CURRICULUM -

Day 2:
Fire Human Resource Management
Building Teams of Trust, Collaboration and Results
Day 3:
Understanding Trans-national Terrorism: History and Contemporary Status of Terrorism
Networking Lunch and Closing Remarks
PHASE TWO CURRICULUM -
REGISTER (PROED 802)
Day 1:
Fire Professional Leadership II
Dealing with Difficult Conversations for Leaders
Day 2:
Advanced Team Building
Gang Violence: A Domestic Terrorism Threat
Day 3:
Leadership Perspective: Incident Command Review
Networking Lunch, Certificate Awards and Closing Remarks
Upon completion of the Fire Service Leadership Level I Certificate, you'll gain effective leadership skills, including:
- Enhanced leadership skills that provide the foundation for great leadership
- How to build teams of trust, collaboration, and results
- How to deal with nonperformance issues
- How to approach and handle challenging conversations
- How to manage media relations to your best advantage, particularly in a crisis
- An understanding of trans-national terrorism including its history and contemporary status
- An understanding of groups currently operating domestically with a discussion on activities facing western states
- An opportunity to participate in an intensive leadership case study with your peers
- An opportunity to network with other fire professionals from across Utah
