View list of classes

Not everyone can manage the financial operations of a nonprofit organization. It takes a uniquely talented individual to manage the reporting, regulations, and requirements of federal grants; the auditing process; and various sources of contributed and earned income, not to mention answering to your management and your Board.

Money matters so much in the nonprofit world—from unique government regulations to special internal control mechanisms—you need to know the best practices and principles. Enhance and improve your understanding and application of nonprofit financial principles with the Nonprofit Academy of Excellence at The University of Utah. We'll show you how to plan for future growth while accounting for today.

The core strategy of the Nonprofit Academy for Excellence is a commitment to ethical management and enhanced professionalism among those engaged in the nonprofit sector whether as a staff member, board member, or volunteer. In these interactive classes, key concepts are demonstrated using examples provided by the instructors. Participants will practice what they have learned by developing and applying strategies to their own circumstances. Participants will also learn from each other and build relationships that are an essential part of successful fundraising endeavors.

Graduation from the Financial Management for Nonprofits Certificate Program requires completion of seven full days of training (50 contact hours). However, anyone may take any of the classes without acceptance into the Nonprofit Academy. These classes do not need to be taken in any sequence, although it is recommended participants take Foundations of Nonprofit Management first.
