Cognitive and Personality Assessment

This course is part of a professional practice core for master’s and doctoral students in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Counseling Psychology. The course is structured to teach the skills of administration, scoring, and interpretation of tests measuring cognition/intelligence, personality functioning, and general academic functioning along with a brief overview of psychometric theory and statistics of particular tests covered in the course. The focus will include interpretation of comprehensive reports as well as beginning writing skills for the instruments covered. Additional course content will address the historical evolution of assessment, current trends in assessment, issues and challenges inherent in testing culturally different clients, and current social, legal and ethical issues in assessment.

Registration Information: If you are a matriculated student, you must register for credit classes using the Campus Information System (CIS). If you are new to the University, you must first submit an application to the Admissions Office, then register using the Campus Information System (CIS).
