Here are six essential things each student must do before beginning the challenging and rewarding experience to improve language skills.
1. STUDENT VISA
Once you have received the I-20 form, you will need to apply for your F-1 (student) visa at the American Consulate in your country before coming to the U.S.
2. HOUSING
You must make your own housing arrangements in advance in order to have a room reserved when you arrive. Choose from dormitory, homestay, off-campus, or short-term hotel options.
3. UMAIL SETUP
Each ELI student is given a unique UMail (e-mail) address to be used during his/her studies here.
4. NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
All incoming students are required to attend the New Student Orientation prior to the beginning of each session.
5. STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE
All international students are required to have health insurance while attending ELI.
6. TRAVEL TO THE U.S.
Arrive a few days before the New Student Orientation. This will give you an early start to get used to local travel, weather, food, etc. You may arrive to the U.S. no more than 30 days before the program start date.
