Daily Itinerary

For the inquisitive, this journey will cover the following time periods in which Berlin was instrumental: the period of Enlightenment, the Prussian Kingdom and House of Hohenzollern, the German Empire, WWI and WWII, the Cold War and life on both sides of The Wall, the peaceful revolution of 1989, the Unification of Germany, Berlin today and its role in the European Union. For the connoisseur, Berlin is an epicenter of traditional and world food, pubs and clubs, theater and Cabaret, music, and simply quality of life. You will enjoy the insights and stories from German guides and your very own German on board – Christoph.

Day 1: Willkommen in Berlin!

Welcome reception and dinner.

Day 2: Triumph and failure. A journey into Berlin’s checkered past.

From Reichstag, Holocaust Memorial, Hitler’s Bunker, Topography of Terror, to the Gendarmenmarkt and Unter den Linden Boulevard. Time travel from the age of Enlightenment to the horrors of the wars. An all-morning guided tour followed by museums in the afternoon.

Day 3: The Wall, cold War, and fall of the Iron Curtain

Today we start at the Wall Memorial, venture through the Jewish Quarter, the Museum Island, finishing at the site of resurrection of the Kaiser’s Berlin Palace. This all-morning guided tour takes us through the Middle Ages, the Jewish history of Berlin, Romanticism and beyond. A Historical Happy Hour this evening will sum up and discuss our findings.

Day 4: Berlin is your oyster! A free day in the world's most exciting city.

A free day with a number of suggestions, all provided to tailor your day off in Berlin. Christoph will be at hand to plan your day or take you on optional excursions. This day is for YOU!

Day 5: Of Prussians and World Powers

A day-trip to Potsdam will take us back to some findings of day one and two. Castle Sanssouci and Castle Cecilienhof offer the best insight into the Prussian Empire as well as the Allied occupation of Germany. See where the Potsdam Conference ushered in the period of the Cold War.

Day 6: Of Spies and escapes - stories from the Berlin Wall and the games of super powers

A string of must-see sights introducing us to the Cold War era. We go deeper into the history of those dark days, but also shed some light into ordinary life and pleasures of the German Democratic Republic. Another Historical Happy Hour and Farewell Dinner is just the icing on the Kuchen (cake)!

Day 7: Auf Wiedersehen, Berlin!
