At the northwestern corner of Italy, you find the smallest wine region of all, Valle d'Aoste. With a past heavily influenced by France and the House of Savoy, it is truly bilingual and multicultural. The grape varieties are indigenous to the area with unfamiliar names to most. The vineyards are described as nothing short of "heroic." After many trips to this rather obscure and captivating area, your instructor is excited to share her experiences with you. Students will be expected to purchase their own dinner from the menu which will pair with the wines presented and tip their server accordingly.
