Building a 3-String Cigar Box Guitar
Lifelong Learning

The cigar box guitar is a simple instrument that dates back to the mid-1800's. Consisting of a few strings and an empty guitar box, many historical versions were completed with a neck made from the end of a broomstick! Contemporary cigar box guitars are still cost-efficient and easy projects that you can build at home. Join us for a class that will take you step-by-step through the process of building this instrument from a kit that you will purchase online. You'll leave class with your own "Tin Pan Alley" 3-string guitar and the knowledge you need to expand your hand-built collection. Students should come prepared with a screwdriver, pliers, and an adjustable clamp. Students must buy their own "Tin Pan Alley" 3-String Paint Can Resonator Guitar Kit. Find it online by clicking here .
