KATHERINE STANDEFER

Katherine E. Standefer's writing appeared in The Best American Essays 2016. Her debut book Lightning Flowers is forthcoming from Little, Brown in 2020 and was shortlisted for the J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Progress Prize from Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard. A Fall 2018 Logan Nonfiction Fellow at The Carey Institute for Global Good, she earned her MFA at the University of Arizona and teaches in Ashland University's Low-Residency MFA program. Her classes draw on a unique embodied and trauma-sensitive pedagogy that takes into account the physiological hurdles, social barriers, and craft challenges to telling stories about the body. www.KatherineStandefer.com
