JOSEPHINE AMOAKOH

Josephine Amoakoh is an educator with 20 years of experience teaching across k-12 and tertiary institutions in Ghana and the U.S. She holds a PhD in Education Culture and Society, an M.Ed. in Education, and a bachelor's degree in English. Josephine specializes in social justice in education with an emphasis on developing and implementing equitable instructional and assessment approaches and fostering conducive learning environments for linguistically and culturally diverse populations. Josephine's research focuses on how language, race/ethnicity, and other socio-cultural factors impact the lives and experiences of diverse populations. She currently teaches the African American Experience course and the Introduction to African Studies course at the University of Utah. Josephine also serves as a family engagement coordinator for the Granite schools District in Salt Lake City as part of her passion for equity and inclusivity in education. In her free time, Josephine likes to sing and watch movies with her family.
