Course Description

In this exciting class, you will identify and discuss themes in Nigerian short stories spanning from the 1970s to the present, gaining expansive knowledge of the country's history and culture along the way. You will also examine content, voice, and style in these works, emphasizing global citizenry and cultural relativism. Writers include renowned names in African literature, such as Flora Nwapa and Amos Tutuola, and others who have received global acclaim: Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
