Rifle Marksmanship

This class will teach students the safety protocols, shooting skills, and management issues associated with shooting air rifles in state-operated facilities. Students will learn about and practice shooting range protocols, gun safety, range safety, range safety as well as the physical and mental principles of marksmanship. Students will also learn to utilize proper rifle nomenclature in their on-range exercises and competition communications as well as learn to handle .177 Olympic grade, air rifles.

This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.

Classes are held from Jan 10 to Feb 21. First class meeting attendance is mandatory and meets on Jan 10 at 5:30pm in room 203. Shooting sessions begin second week of class. No camping. Students will learn about and practice shooting range protocols, gun safety, as well as the physical and mental principles of marksmanship. Students will also learn to utilize proper rifle nomenclature in their on-range exercises and competition communications as well as learn to handle .177 Olympic grade, air rifles. Drops not possible after 2nd day of class.
