Designed for beginning through intermediate skiers, this course provides practical skills and information on resource and facility management, ski history, and techniques.

This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.

Class Sections For Alpine Skiing (PRTS 420)

Spring 2018 Section 1, Starting on: 01/19/2018

Attendance at first class meeting is mandatory. Drops not possible after the 2nd day following this meeting. Students will finish this course with the ability to: improve their respective ski abilities (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced), use current ski techniques, practice current risk management methods, and understand basic standards of ski resort management. These skills will be acquired through multiple days on the ski slopes, demonstrations, and discussion. Additionally, issues related to management of U.S. Forest Service administered lands, such as those used in this ski class, as they relate to recreation and other uses will be discussed. Class meets on campus Jan 19th only. Brighton field sessions will be on 8 consecutive Fridays as follows (Feb 2, 09, 16, 23, March 2, 09, 16, 23). Fee includes 8 full day passes. No camping.
