We will examine the novel's illustration of free will vs. inquisitorial control, and suffering and evil vs. happiness. Can the human being "judge not" others, including God, and overcome the desire for revenge to achieve forgiveness and grace? We will briefly examine Dostoevsky's own comments on the nature of "man" vs. the nature of God.
