This course will explore the role of police in America, including a historical overview and explanations of jurisdiction. We will examine how police officers are selected, trained, and managed. After considering crime data, we will look at issues such as police use of force, race, vehicle pursuits, body cams, and citizen review boards. One class will focus on Corrections. Each class will include 30 minutes dedicated to discussion of police-related news of the past week.
