Shakespeare's comedies are the fun, vivacious, outlandish and sometimes outrageous plays written for Queen Elizabeth I and her court, for the law students at Gray's Inn and for the groundlings at the Theater, and later, at the Globe. With plots that twist like pretzels, quick-witted language that thrills, titillates, confounds, and characters you want to take home; this is Shakespeare at his sharpest wit and entertaining best. We work through a play each week. We study it, read speeches aloud, and discuss the characters and language. The plays to be covered are: Two Gentlemen of Verona; The Merry Wives of Windsor; The Comedy of Errors; Much Ado About Nothing; As You Like It; and The Taming of the Shrew.
