Spring hiking in the Wasatch is frequently limited by snow conditions and mud. Accordingly, this course will focus on foothill and possibly valley hikes. The pace will be slow, to enable hikers to enjoy the environment of the area and view any wildlife that may be encountered, as well as to socialize with other participants. The hikes will involve moderate elevation gains (300-1000 feet) and will be between 2.5 and 5 miles in length. We will be on trails that may have uneven footing. Sturdy walking or hiking shoes are recommended, and trekking poles may be helpful. Bring lunch (or a snack), warm jacket or sweater, and rain gear. The scheduled hikes are subject to cancellation or rescheduling, based on weather conditions. Hike durations will vary based on the particular hike, but plan on approximately four hours (including transportation).
