Art Tours for Book Lovers at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts: "Buddha in the Attic"

The small but spellbinding novel, "The Buddha in the Attic," by Julie Otsuka weaves together the experiences of courageous Japanese "picture brides" who traveled from Japan to a strange and unknown life in America a century ago. Themes of identity, adversity, and what it means to be an American in uncertain times are explored by Utah Museum of Fine Arts' docents using art from the collection and beyond. Read the book ahead of the tour or let the tour pique your interest for reading it in the future.
