Virtual Event: How to Look at a Work of Art with UMFA Docents

Japanese Armor

Enjoy a virtual, docent-guided tour of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts' global collection with a focus on both 2-D and 3-D works. This tour is one in an ongoing series named "How to Look at a Work of Art." Using a technique called Visual Thinking Strategies, participants are invited to enjoy close looking, storytelling, compare/contrast, conversation, and casual sketching as tools for understanding what they see. Led by a special team of UMFA docents who focus on giving adult tours at the Museum, in addition to their regular duty of leading school groups. Please have a pencil and paper ready if you would like to sketch with us.
