Receive personal support all the way through the training program
This online program focuses on the clinical documentation industry which includes medical transcriptionists and medical transcription editors. Medical transcriptionists type up written reports of the audio files doctors record after they interact with patients. These written reports are then included in the patient’s medical record. Medical transcription editors have received specialized transcriptionist training to correct and edit written reports created by speech recognition software, which automatically translates the doctor’s dictation into text.
This program is designed to train you for both of these career paths by preparing you to pass the Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS) exam. Those who complete the program will receive a University of Utah Medical Transcription Editing Certificate.
This program is offered in partnership with CareerStep.
Schedule: The Medical Transcription Editor program is estimated at 640 completion hours. Since the program is completely self-paced and the online training format allows you the flexibility to study as much or as little as your schedule allows, the time it takes you to complete the course will vary. Some learners are able to complete their 640-hour training program in as little as 4 months, while those who have less time to devote to the course take longer.
Not eligible for the University of Utah tuition reduction benefit
