Finance and Accounting Certificate / Professional Education

Required Classes

PROED 114 is a full-day class that is equivalent to BOTH half-day courses PROED 111 and PROED 112. You must either take PROED 111 AND PROED 112 or you can take PROED 114. (PROED 114 is only offered during the summer semester due to scheduling conflicts.)

 

Elective Classes

In addition to the required classes above, this certificate requires 2 electives. Electives may include any Professional Education course. Follow this link to view choices for Electives or choose from the following technology courses:

 

Ground yourself with a foundational understanding in financial and accounting principles when you complete the Finance and Accounting Certificate. We'll cover:

  • Basic accounting concepts including income and expenses
  • Why cash flow is critical to the success of a business
  • How debt is used to fund new initiatives and operations
  • The basics of financial analysis including present and future value
  • Sound internal control

To achieve the Finance and Accounting Certificate, participants must complete 6 classes including 4 required classes plus 2 electives. The Financial Management for Nonprofits Certificate provides 49 CPEs. According to the UACPA, CPE course approval is not mandatory, but "courses with approval numbers are recognized as complying with the CPE rules." This program's approval number is 081208-09.
