Financial planning is the lifelong process by which individuals and households determine, pursue, and achieve financial goals. The principal mechanisms of personal financial planning include: responsible use of credit, investing and asset allocation, risk management, tax planning, retirement planning, and real estate planning. The course serves both an all-in-one primer in financial literacy and as a foundation for further course work for students who wish to become financial planning professionals. This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.
This course is only for students pursuing the non-credit Professional Certificate in Financial Planning. Those who are not certificate seeking should register for FCS 350. Please visit https://continue.utah.edu/proed/academy/certificate/financial-planning-certificate to find out more about this certificate.
