This summer, in light of the COVID-19 crisis, Professional Education will be offering all class offerings online. We will be using the platform Canvas to hold these classes. You will get access to the class Canvas page 2 business days before the class date. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us via email at ProEd@continue.utah.edu
The intent of this course is to provide individuals with knowledge of both retirement plans and employee benefits. The public retirement plans include Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. The private plans include defined benefit and defined contribution plans and their regulatory provisions. The specifics of the various plans are analyzed as well as non-qualified deferred compensation plans. Employee benefits such as health insurance and disability insurance will also be discussed. Finally, issues that individuals face in retirement such as life-style choices, community choices, and medical issues are discussed. This noncredit class meets with a regular University of Utah credit course.
