Introduction to Exercise Science - Level 1 (Anatomy & Kinesiology) - Online
Professional Education

In this online, self-paced course, students gain an understanding of musculoskeletal and functional anatomy and the effects of exercise placed on joint structures during exercise movements. Emphasis is placed on learning about proper body alignment, joint range of motion (ROM), basic biomechanics, and kinesiological principles to the development of safe and effective exercise programs. Six-Week Course Outline I. Foundations of Structural Kinesiology and Analysis; II. The Upper Extremity/Shoulder Region and Written Project Details; III. The Upper Extremity consisting of the Elbow, Forearm, Wrist, & Hand; IV. The Hip, Knee, Ankle, and Foot; V. The Spinal Column and Thorax; VI. Final Exam and Written Project Due. Course Goals 1. To provide the students the opportunity to learn a systematic approach to the analysis of posture, joint structure, anatomy, body alignment and human motion. 2. To provide the students an understanding of musculoskeletal and functional anatomy and the effects of exercise placed on joint structure during exercise movements. 3. To provide students an opportunity to learn about proper body alignment, joint structure/range of motion (ROM), basic biomechanics, and kinesiological principles to the development of safe and effective exercise programs.
