Introduction to Exercise Science - Level 2 (Exercise Physiology) - Online

This online, self-paced course is designed to teach the personal trainer how the muscular, skeletal, and cardiorespiratory systems function with and without exercise conditioning. Additional topics include energy metabolism, neuromuscular function, and the physiology of exercise in relation to training programs and environmental considerations. Objectives: 1. Students will gain an understanding of the physiological responses to acute exercise; 2. Students will gain an understanding of the physiological responses to regular exercise. Six-week Course Outline: I. Bioenergetics and Written Project Details; II. Exercise Metabolism; III. The Nervous System and Skeletal Muscle Structure and Function; IV. Circulatory Adaptations to Exercise; V. The Physiology of Training: Effect on VO2 Max, Performance, Homeostasis and Strength and Written Project Due; VI. Temperature Regulation and Exercise and the Environment and Final Exam.
