This online, self-paced course teaches an educational systematic approach to teaching resistance/weight training movements. The practical application of anatomy, physiology, and body alignment is introduced to analyze weight training techniques, exercise equipment, and the risk/benefit analysis of a specific exercise chosen. Equipment modalities reviewed include stability balls, exercise bands, free weights, body weight, and commercial strength equipment. Six-week Course Outline: I. Basic Principles, Results of Resistance/Weight Training Programs and Written/Video Project Details ; II. Muscle Physiology, Motor Learning, and Integrating other Fitness Components into your Resistance Training Program; III. Resistance Training Systems and Adaptations from Exercise Programs Resistance Training with Special Populations, Developing Education-Based Personal Training Sessions, and Pictorial Project (Found in Class Discussion Question); IV. Written Project Due and The Science and Biomechanics of Resistance Training; V. Individual Resistance Training Programs and Final Exam/Video Project Due
