About the Kostopulos Dream Foundation:

Kostopulos Dream Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of people of all abilities through education, recreation, and growth opportunities. Since 1967, we have offered educational and recreational opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities. Our goal is to make our services available to all people, regardless of ability level, income, or place of residence. For more than 50 years, Camp K has served the local community through year-round educational programs. Each year, we serve more than 3,500 people on our Utah campus. Our results show that all of our students improve skills and abilities after attending our programs. We provide opportunities for our students to improve their physical fitness levels, learn healthy lifestyle skills, access and enjoy their community, engage in the arts, sports, and adaptive recreation. We encourage participants to stretch their imaginations, learn practical life skills, learn problem-solving skills, maximize their potential for independence, and build healthy bodies, minds, and spirits. We also teach valuable 21st century skills, including self-confidence, self-control, persistence, flexibility, adaptability, curiosity, initiative, communication, and collaboration. The benefits from our programs create a ripple-effect, impacting not only our participants lives, but the lives of their families, friends, and ultimately our entire community. Camp K is always promoting inclusion for people with disabilities and that’s what makes our programs uniquely special. Camp K is continually growing and seeking out ways to change the status quo, through this program children will quickly learn that, although people with disabilities may have different challenges, they are just like them! It’s through our programs that the perception of people with disabilities is changed for the better.

In our experience in the camping industry it is completely normal for campers to get nervous prior to attending camp or may have home sickness while at camp, especially if it is their first year away from home. We would be happy to discuss any questions that your child may have prior to attending to elevate nerves. First time campers are here to gain new experiences possibly outside of their comfort zone and to meet and build new friendships. We would like to ensure that your child knows that their first friend at camp will be their counselor, the counselor will then assist in building new friendships with other campers. Also campers will be able to call home at anytime upon request.
