The Zine-Scene: Exploring Comics & Zines (Age 14-17)
Youth Education

Zines are self-published, self-distributed books and print-works that give us the power to build community and share our ideas. Zines often make use of comics to convey information from our favorite bands ("fanzines"), our own experiences ("perzines") and everything in between. In this workshop, participants will create their own zines in many formats, learn comics fundamentals, collaborate on group prompts, and participate in a mini zine-swap.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand how zines can share ideas and build community
  • Hands-on experience making zines of various sizes and formats
  • Create and share mini-zines and comics
