Experience the wonderful Wasatch in this backcountry experience that will teach you how to have a safe adventure in the wild wilderness. Embark on a lasting adventure while learning how to prepare for the unexpected. Learn the basics of handling an emergency situation and gain useful skills to help out in remote environments.End the week with an overnight backpacking trip in the Wasatch backcountry to put your skills to the test. Class Sections For Outdoor Discovery: Backcountry Experience (Age 14-17) (YESPR 303)

Summer 2018 Section 1, Starting on: 08/06/2018

Participants will first meet on the U of U campus and will then meet at a different trailhead along the Wasatch each day. Parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up students at the trailhead on the following days: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Directions for drop off/pick up and packing list will be emailed out a week prior to the start of class. Food is provided for the overnight camping trip. Tents, sleeping bags, pads, and backpacks are also provided. Lunch is not provided.
