The Canyon Country of southern Utah is one of the most fascinating regions on the planet. The unique geology, ecosystems, and long human history all have distinct and inspiring stories to tell. This course will provide an interdisciplinary exploration of the region. We will take photographic-illustrated adventures through various national parks and wilderness areas, including: Zion, Bryce, Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Escalante. In each of these destinations we will study the natural and cultural history of the area and work to develop a greater sense of understanding and intimacy with southern Utah's vast red rock desert.
