I have a Question

We still have a tradition certainly in English television…where the important thing is the quality and the challenging nature of the programming.
—Rowan Atkinson

KUED logoKUED and Go Learn are jumping back across the pond in 2020 to scout out more of your favorite PBS film sites. England on Location 2020 starts in London with 2 days of theater, touring, shopping and a very special tour of Churchill’s War Rooms. We then board a train to our favorite landscape in the south of England – Cornwall. We will roam the hills and beaches where Ross and Demelza tred, walk the cobbled, narrow streets of Pt Isaac on the lookout for our favorite grumpy Doctor, tour Highclere Castle and explore the lesser known quaint and lovely Cotswolds region. We have found beautiful country hotels to relax in after fascinating days of exploring the PBS worlds of drama.

We’ve hired our favorite Cornish driver/and local guide to enrich your insight into the making of some of BBC’s most iconic television shows including Poldark and Downton Abbey. KUED’s Alice Webber and Kate Jones will open history with in depth historical discussions and behind the scenes stories of your favorite PBS shows.

Tour Highlights Include:

  • Nine days of discoveries starting in London, traveling to Truro in central Cornwall; and finishing in the Cotswolds with PBS Utah guides Kate Jones and Alice Webber.
  • Included is all lodging, transportation, tours, tickets and breakfasts. Also includes a traditional English tea, various lunches and group dinners and a specially chosen play in London.
  • Our in-depth tours include a day exploring the Cornwall you see in Poldark, a leisurely morning in Doc Martin’s fictional town of Pt Wenn; the actual enchanting fishing village of Port Isaac, a full day discovering the real Downton Abbey; including the often seen village of Bampton – the stand in for Downton Village and a tour of Highclere Castle – you will pinch yourself when you stand in front of that familiar façade and realize you are really there. We also have a day at Chavenage – known to you as Trenwith, the mansion of George and Elizabeth Warleggan of Poldark. Here we will experience a delicious Cotswold’s Cream Team and enjoy a private tour of the ancient house and grounds lead by a member of the family who has owned it for centuries and learn why such an English Manor has a French name!
