Tour Leader Tabitha M. Benney

Assistant Professor, Political Science Department, University of Utah

Dr. Benney is an Assistant Professor in the University of Utah’s Department of Political Science and affiliated faculty at the Center on Global Change and Sustainability and in the Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program. She is also a Research Fellow for the Earth Research Governance Network (Lund, Sweden) and a researcher for the Evolving Securities Initiative (ESI) at the Global Risk Governance Center, University of Cape Town, South Africa. Professor Benney received her MA from Georgetown University (2007) and her PhD from the University of California (2013). She teaches in the fields of International Relations, International Political Economy, Energy and Environmental Politics and Economic Development.

Dr. Benney’s research focuses on various aspects of emerging economies of the world. She has traveled to all corners of India over the past 15 years and never tires of the adventure there. She has studied energy policy, diffusion of international climate programs and aspects of the economy that drive the types of successful development found in this rapidly advancing state.
