BHAKTI BANNING

Bhakti Banning began weaving in 1964 in Berkeley, California, studying under international artist Kay Sekimachi. She later studied with Candace Crockett, Ted Hallman, David Castleberry, and Barbara Shawcroft before graduating from San Jose State University in design, with post-graduate work in fiber. Bhakti has taught extensively in the Bay Area, including subjects such as traditional weaving, vegetable and chemical dying, spinning, basketry, leaded glass, batik, tie dye, screen printing, and other surface design techniques. She also operated her own fiber art and leaded glass studios, juried shows, and exhibited in many galleries.
