Carolyn Standing Webb has a degree in education and has been teaching needlework for many years. She teaches regularly at a local needlework store and at local, regional, and national workshops through Embroiderers' Guild of American where she has been a member since 1988. She loves to stitch and her designs usually combine stitches of several types such as cross stitch, blackwork, white work, pulled thread, drawn work, crewel, free surface embroidery, and needlepoint.
Her accomplishments include: local and regional awards, 1995 Best of Show and People's Choice Award at National Seminar of The Embroiderers' Guild of America, Educator of the year for the Rocky Mountain Region in 1997, published designs, and “Lake Marie” was purchased for permanent exhibit in Louisville.
She has worked on costuming for a film and in community theater, was costume mistress at “This Is the Place Heritage Park” in Salt Lake City, and designed, supervised and stitched on drapery valances for the Utah State Governor’s Mansion.
An avid collector of oriental art and needlework tools, historical themes often show up in her designs. She enjoys quilting, heirloom sewing and smocking.
