LYNNE GILBERT-NORTON

Lynn was born and grew up in England and has always been fascinated by behavior. She has over 15 years of academic and applied experience in animal behavior, with a BSc in psychology, an MSc in psychology/animal behavior in the UK, and a PhD and post doctoral research in wildlife biology in the US. Her academic work focused on canine behavior and learning in coyotes and included studies on their social status, individual and social learning, and on their personality. She currently runs Pets Decoded LLC in Salt Lake City as an animal behavior consultant and private trainer. Her approach to behavioral modification and training dogs is based upon building a positive relationship between owner and dog through trust and mutual respect. She also works with a local non-profit organization that rescues shelter dogs and teaches veterans with PTSD and female inmates in the Utah Department of Corrections to train potential service dogs. I am a trainer and evaluator for the American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen and Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) Canine Life and Social Skills programs, and the only animal behavior consultant in Utah affiliated with the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB).
