Instructor: SARAH BURROUGHS

SARAH BURROUGHS

Sarah Burroughs is the founder and designer of anne b designs, a retail line of high-end bags manufactured in Salt Lake City, Utah. What started as a hobby during college, and continued to grow during her two years in a corporate marketing job, she finally took on anne b designs full-time beginning summer 2014. She now works out of a studio with other local artists in Salt Lake City.

Sarah also works with local refugee employment services to connect refugees who have sewing experience with a job at anne b designs or other local designers. She has traveled to Mbale, Uganda and Hyderabad, India with Help International to teach women and children handmade skills that will help them start a business and support their family and community. She also provides service project workshops for the community to learn how to sew sleeping bags and drawstring backpacks to then donate the finished products to a local homeless relief organization.

Sarah was recently awarded the Fashion and Arts Humanity Fete by The Arts of Humanity in Chicago, competed as a finalist in the American Express "Ones to Watch" Finalist at the 2015 MAGIC Tradeshow in Las Vegas, was a 2014 Martha Stewart American Made Award Finalist, printed anne b design ads in Harper's Bazaar UK Bazaar Boutiques section October - December 2014, and sold anne b on Paris' online boutique raaad.fr.

Sarah was an awesome instructor! Very patient and helpful for true beginners like myself who have never touched a sewing machine. I wish she would do more classes for the U. The projects were fun and practical. I highly recommend that this class is offered again!
