ALAN SCOTT

Alan Scott is the co-owner and lead distiller at Waterpocket Distillery, a Utah-based rum, liqueurs, and amaros producer. The distillery produced Utah's first true amaro, the Toadstool Notom Amaro No.1 when they launched in February of 2017. Alan's background includes 20 years of homebrewing, winemaking, and fermentation experience. In addition, Alan has done extensive research into botanical spirits, delving into many original sources from 19th century France, Germany, Britian, and Italy. His wife Julia, with whom he owns and operates Waterpocket Distillery, is a chemical engineer, PhD biochemist, and has an MBA from the University of Utah. They lived together in Europe for over 3 years, where they learned to love the huge variety of local spirits. Bringing the unique character of these spirits to a Utah audience is a core mission of the distillery.
