Kathy Hoggan is a professional teacher with a Master's Degree in Health Promotion and Education from the University of Utah. Kathy's interest in health and nutrition, as well as her personal convictions against the "Western Diet," grew while raising her two sons. She and her family had their share of health issues, causing more misery and expense than was acceptable to her. This is when Kathy started to think seriously about what they could do as a family to improve their health.
It made sense to Kathy that the food they were eating was involved with their health. She began researching what nutrients the 100 trillion cells in the body constantly requires to keep functioning properly, and what foods contain these nutrients. This research and a desire to go back to school led to Kathy's Master's Thesis Project: writing the curriculum and teaching a class about the differences between sugars made by nature and sugars made by man. Her class "Understanding Sugar" was born.
