Dr. Richard Ingebretsen is faculty member of the University of Utah School of Medicine and also teaches in the department of physics. Currently, he is a practicing emergency room physician. Dr. Ingebretsen has been involved with the instruction of Wilderness Medicine for several years. He has also been rafting rivers for about 20 Years. Dr. Ingebretsen believes that wilderness medicine is needed because so many people travel to the outdoors where there is no medical help around. Basic outdoor first aid skills are critical in that setting.
