RYAN STOLLEY

Dr. Ryan Stolley is a scientist, educator, and entrepreneur whose work centers around the design and synthesis of novel substances for a variety of applications. He earned his PhD from the University of Utah in organic chemistry, specializing in the design of new reactions. He then had a post-doctoral appointment at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and as a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow at the US Department of Energy's Solar Technologies Office.

His current work is split between the University of Utah's Science Research Initiative (SRI) and Glycosurf, Inc. a local specialty chemical company. At the University of Utah, he is part of the leadership of one of the biggest undergraduate research programs in the US (SRI) which also allows him to run his own research laboratory where his research spans fundamental organic chemistry, biochemistry, condensed matter physics and chemical educations. At Glycosurf, he is the principal chemist and director of Research and Development.

With broad experience academically, professionally and personally, he is well-regarded in his ability to relate to students and provide high-level education to a broad audience with humor and rigor. He is a staunch believer that science is not as hard as your fear leads you to believe but is rather a fun simple puzzle of small easy to handle games.
