Robert Faught received a BA in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside, and an MA in Psychology from Pepperdine University. He pursued additional graduate-level study at the University of Utah in mathematics, physics, chemistry, linguistics, and educational psychology, completing approximately 90% of doctoral coursework toward a PhD in Educational Psychology before an automobile accident interrupted his studies. After retirement, he returned to the University of Utah under HB 60, auditing coursework in philosophy, U.S. history, and archaeology.

Mr. Faught is a Vietnam veteran, having served from 1964–1968 as an avionics technician in an anti-submarine warfare squadron attached to the USS Hornet. His military training included extensive education in electronics, radar, communications, and navigation systems, providing a strong technical and analytical foundation. His civilian work career after Vietnam has spanned mental health, engineering, psychometrics, public service, and education. For over a decade, Mr. Faught served as a professional test developer and psychometrician with the National Assessment Institute, consulting with state licensing boards across the United States. He also served as a factual witness in regulatory and administrative proceedings. His public service for the state of Utah focused on working in Medicaid and welfare services for low-income and disabled populations until his retirement in 2010.

Mr. Faught has pursued lifelong study in philosophy, psychology, and contemplative traditions, including yoga and integral psychology. He currently teaches for OSHER at the University of Utah, offering courses in Philosophy of Yoga, Integral Psychology, Psychic Phenomena, and Political Theory.
