PAUL CUNNINGHAM

Paul Cunningham was employed as a law enforcement officer with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office for 30 years. He worked on patrol, in juvenile investigations, in drug and alcohol enforcement, as a school resource officer, and in planning and research functions before becoming the Sheriff's Office personnel manager for ten years. He retired from law enforcement after a final ten years as the Corrections Bureau chief deputy, responsible for the Salt Lake County Jail. He then accepted employment with the city of South Jordan, first as the human resources director for five years and then as the city's chief of staff for five years. Paul holds a bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in criminology and a master's degree in economics, both from the University of Utah. He attended the FBI National Academy. He has been an instructor at the Utah Police Academy, created the Utah high school Vocational Law Enforcement Program curriculum, and taught in the Criminal Justice Program at Salt Lake Community College. He is still certified as a senior professional in human resources.
