WILLIAM HARDESTY

After working over 40 years as an instructional designer and corporate trainer, mainly in the financial sector, Bill embarked on a new career as a freelance journalist. Behind the facts of the news are people--people driving the process and people being affected by it. Bill's journalistic approach is to help readers better understand what is happening in their community and, most importantly, why. Bill reported on the 68th United Nations Civil Society Conference and The Utah League of Cities and Towns conference. He has written numerous articles on the lives of refugees in the Salt Lake area. In 2020, he received a third-place award from the Utah chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists for his continuing coverage of the Men's Homeless Resource Center in the City of South Salt Lake. Bill received two BS degrees from the University of Utah in Human Development and Family Relations and Sociology, and an MBA from Westminster College. He served in in the United States Coast Guard Reserve, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant. He was recently was appointed as chairperson of the Taylorsville City Cultural and Diversity Committee.
