JAMES MAYFIELD

James B. Mayfield is presently a professor emeritus, having taught at the University of Utah for nearly forty years. He specialized in international relations, comparative public administration, development management, rural development, and the politics of world poverty. He has worked in twenty countries as a teacher, trainer, consultant, researcher, and program implementer. He has been a consultant with the United States Agency for International Development, the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme, the Canadian International Development Agency, and numerous private firms specializing in poverty alleviation. As the cofounder of Choice Humanitarian, James has led expeditioners on two- to three-week trips into Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Egypt, Kenya, India, and Nepal. He has written numerous books and journal articles. His three latest books are Extreme Poverty Eliminated! A Successful Program in Nepal; Egypt: A Field of Reeds: Social, Economic and Political Change in Rural Egypt: In Search of Civil Society and Good Governance; and One Can Make a Difference: The Challenges and Opportunities of Dealing with World Poverty.
