Hugh Leeman is an artist and educator teaching art history and technique classes in English and Spanish. He has been a guest lecturer at Duke University, Jons Hopkins University, and the Huntington Library. He is a lecturer and instructor at the Crocker Art Museum. Hugh's lectures focus on the manifestation of the spiritual realm and social power structures in art. His artworks have been exhibited at the de Young Museum, the Museum of Mexico City, and the Masur Museum of Art. His paintings examine the confluence of technology, mythology, and the history of inequality. His first social art project focused on a five-year collaborative project with the inner city's homeless, using technology to create micro self-empowerment business platforms for homeless individuals. More recently, Hugh cofounded a non-profit organization collaborating with the indigenous Aeta Tribes of the Philippines to bring sustainable clean water projects to remote villages.
